Making custom resolution MPEG2 streams?
Wasn’t sure where to post this as there isn’t a Compression forum. Please let me know if I should move it.
A client has requested a 30fps 1280×1024 MPEG-2 stream for playback on a kiosk system. Yes, I know… weird, right? They are using some funky turnkey playback system that has to have MPEG-2.
So it is possible to make an MPEG-2 with this non-broadcast resolution and frame rate? Every setting in Compressor 3.5 limits me to broadcast resolutions & ratios (480/720/1080 4:3/16:9) and frame rates (29.97).
I’ve some had luck using VLC, but it’s limited to 3Mbit/sec (which looks pretty crummy at that resolution).
So is there an easy way to force VLC to use a higher bitrate? (no CLI, please!) Or convince Compressor not to use broadcast standards?
