  • Making changes in Premiere after mixing in Audition

I made the switch to Premiere after the release of FCPX, after using FCP since version 2. I’ve fallen in love! My workflow has changed in that I finish my edit, send everything to Audition to mix then export stems back to Premiere. Here is my question – if I need to make additional changes in Premiere, which include replacing and/or adding shots, do I have to re-send everything to Audition and start over? There doesn’t appear to be the dynamic link interchange with Audition as there is with AE.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Glen,

Yes, you have to redo everything in Audition. That’s why it’s advisable to only send everything to Audition once you have your sequence finalised.

Well, it’s one of those cases where it was supposed to be done… then the client made changes. It would be a beautiful thing if Audition could have the tight integration with Premiere like other apps.

    Thanks!

Not sure what other apps that include an NLE and Audio software you are referring to. FCP and Soundtrack Pro promoted the ability to do what you are requesting, but it was hit and miss. I dont know of any otherNLE / Audio editor that have any “dynamic link type” relationship that can update one when the other is changed. Its a whole different situation then the PrP and AE link, which has its issues as well.
