So I’m looking a lot of cool spots that use LED blub type/jumbotron displays in logos, backdrops, whatnot. Now I know how this could be achieved in 2D with After Effects, but I would like to know how to make an LED bulb that emits a glow/light. There is the Football in America promo that Troika did and they use the LED lights in the NBC peacock logo and also the letters in other words in the logo and it looks like they have individual bulb objects in there. But I wouldnt know how to go about making these bulbs that emit light, and also have the bulb type reflection and highlights that wouldn’t be a killed to render.

    Any ideas?

I did this a few month back thru experimentation. It’s really easy.

All I used was a capsule, spot light.

No fliter, just adjust light properties. Falloff was the important one. 😉

The glass material needs to be tweak so you can see the reflections of the other bulbs. Refraction was the key here.

    And that’s all folks…..

    Hope this helps….
