Sorry if this has been asked a billion times before, but I did do a search…

In PI SE, how do you make an emitter stay attached to a particular point in a piece of footage?

Say you have a panning shot of a room in which there is supposed to be a small fire in a corner. How do you get the flames to stay in that spot while the camera pans?

I’ve tried moving frame by frame, and shifting the emitter each time to stay put, but it always ends up making the flames “streak”, as if the fire is moving.

I read about attaching images to emitters, but can’t figure how to use that function to do what I want.

If there’s a tutorial, just point me to it, thanks. 🙂

Open the emitter properties dialog for the stage emitter and make sure “attached to emitter” is checked for each particle type, and that the slider is all the way right.

Now when you animate the position of the emitter on the stage, the paticles will move with it.

This only works for certain types of emitters, but should be fine for your case of flames.

    Thanks, Alan. That works fine.

    Cheers,
