Making a voice sound like a whisper

no. Not possible to change the timbre of a voice overall and have it sound realistic at all. You can’t make normal dialog sound much different than it is, in terms of changing it to a shout or to a whisper, because these are voice personalities. You might as well ask if you can change an angry scene into a happy one without reshooting.

Closest that you can get is an old radio-station trick back in the stone age when the Otari MX-5050 was king. (still own 2 of em!)
Not sure how to do this in the digital world since I don’t have my Audition computer handy at the moment.
With full-track tape, we would make a dub with a tiny bit of slap-back echo (I would imagine a very small amount of reverb with a long decay would do it), then physically flip the reels over and dub it again, applying echo in reverse (Pre-Verb) I THINK that most audio NLE’s can do a pre-verb type FX. The result is a rather “ghostly/dreamy” effect, and if overlaid with a bit of background noise you might get lucky.

If that gets too deep, try having someone the same gender/age range lip-synch the audio track and substitute it. To make it work, make a loop of your ambient room noise with no dialogue and mix it with your new audio.

In fact, there is a way of making a normal voice to whispering voice. When whispering, one does not vibrate vocal cords or adams apple. The degree of vocal cord vibration is encoded in a few parameters in any kind of voice codecs. If the parameters are suppressed during decoding process, the resulting voice sounds like whispering. It’s one of many voice transformation tricks.

I would very much like to hear a voice that has been recorded at normal levels, normal speaking voice, affected/effected to sound identical to a recorded whisper, and not sound like a faked whisper.
I’ve created unique voicings in post, and can do some amazing things. But they sound like processed voices, not realistic voices.
Got an example of a real-world recording? Both pre and post processing, please?

I have a whispering voice sample processed from a clean voice sample. I do not know exactly what you mean by “faked whisper.” But please listen to these files and let me know what you think. By the way, how do I upload the audio samples?
