  • Making a Template with Bins to use again and again?

Posted by Adam Berch on July 2, 2013 at 12:55 am

    Hi,

I want to make a Avid Template in Media Compser 6.5 where I set up a New Project, make some Bins that I know I’ll use in every project, Make some blank sequences that I’ll use in every project as well.

I want to save this Project as “Avid Template” on one of my Hard Drives. Then when I start a new project I would like just to copy that project file to a folder, rename the project file to a new name and then double click it to open it up with all my bins, etc.. still there.

Is this possible? Do I need any special software for this?

You can easily copy the .avb bins from your “Avid Template” project into any project you create.

Same idea as renaming a project after you have created it. Make a new project. Call it template.
Build it how ever you want it to look.

Then outside of Avid go to your Shared projects folder and duplicate the project called template.

Rename it what you want. “JobA”
Step inside that project and rename everything you see with the file name of “Template”.* to “JobA”.*

If memory serves correctly there are 3 items you have to do. Two might be settings and one is a .avp file?
