    Hi all,

(not sure this is the right forum, but…)

Anyone have any ideas on the best way to capture a still from a dv piece for a poster print?

My intuition is to project a high quality, de-interlaced still from FCP5 on a screen and snap a photo of it with a very high res digital camera. Any suggestions or articles that folks can point me to?

    Thanks!

Look into Genuine Fractals, print houses use it to res up pictures but video is pretty low res. Good Luck.

    Hope this helps-

Bear in mind that DV is 720×480 at 72dpi. Blow that up big and you will know it is from video…grainy and soft.

Isn’t it odd though? Project DV onto a 42″CRT and it’s perfectly acceptable.

You could make a poster as long as you stand 20 feet away. 🙂

I know. I’m trying to figure out the best way to deal with this. Genuine Fractals sounds like something worth trying though.

Personally I use Photozoom Pro for this. But the projection idea may work as well.

    Have a wonderful day.
