Making a logo burn through paper
I have searched for ages trying to find how to do this but I can’t find very much useful stuff.
How would I create an effect that burns a logo through paper, so that it looks like someone’s got a branding iron behind and it singes through?
I don’t really want flames, but I want it to look like the paper is singing up, and the letters form from the burn out bits of the paper.
I’ve had a fiddle with roughen edges and simple choker, but it just doesn’t look quite right.
Has anyone got any suggestions?

You’ll get some soon, patience. Meantime, explore the search function, we see a similar post about once a month and we’ve dealt with it in dozens of different ways. There is no single approach and much depends on your need for realism and style or how your shot fits into the entire sequence. Do you need smoke and ashes? Do you need ultra-realism? (Might be easier to shoot it like we used to do in the Olden Days, back in the early 80s.)
You can also explore theanvel.com for Dean’s interesting and boneheaded simple fire/burning effects. His files were free a few months ago but his stuff is some of the best and easiest to comprehend. Buy it.

For the letters use a Simple Choker and animate the choke, maybe mixed with some blue.
