MakeUp Commercial Video
Hello,
Does anyone know how they film those makeup commercials where the skin looks so smooth and perfect even in close up shots? I think my instructor once told me it has to do with slight soft focus or slight overexposure but I’m not sure I remember accurately. For pictures, you can always touch up the skin in photoshop but for video, how is this look achieved. I’m trying to shoot a makeup commercial and i know with my HDSLR even with beautiful makeup, you will be able to see the pores and blemishes which I don’t want. Please help! Thanks.

You might wanty to look at BeautyBox https://digitalanarchy.com/beautyVID/main.html or Cosmo https://www.redgiant.com/products/all/cosmo/ or similar, though you could do lots of the same work more slowly by using built-in AE tools.

Thanks for the links Mike, this is the request I most often hear from my female clients – can you do something about my skin. I usually just brush it aside telling them they don’t need it because frankly I don’t care for the look and making beauty adjustments isn’t that important to me but it is to some of these clients so I might have to rethink my position.
These tools are getting more affordable too I see.
I assume that both applications do some some sort of auto tracking and scaling so that the effect moves with the face. How good are they when the face starts out looking right into camera but then turns to the side in profile? Is the software smart enough to make the boundary adjustments now that the shape of the face has changed?
