Perhaps I’m overlooking something simple: what is the best way to make the reverse of an image appear solid? For example, let’s say you import an image into a AE, make it 3D, and then rotate the image. As the reverse side of the image becomes visible, you will see that it is a mirror of the original; how does one go about making the reverse appear as a single color?

    A couple approaches:

    1. Create a solid the same size as your image, promote it to 3D, place it directly behind the image in z-space, and parent it to the image.

    2. Get fancy and use Dan Ebberts’s Layer Invisible When Facing Away From Camera [link] set of expressions.

[Walter Soyka] “1. Create a solid the same size as your image, promote it to 3D, place it directly behind the image in z-space, and parent it to the image.”

You could also follow the same workflow by duplicating the image layer and applying Generate > Fill to the duplicate that you move behind the original. By its nature this will have the correct size and alpha as the original image.

Thanks for your help. That’s what I was doing, I just wanted to see if there was something I was overlooking.
