Hi Cow users,
I have a Solid layer with CC Ball Action applied to it to create a grid of spheres. I’ve got a black solid with CC Wave World applied to it, pre-comped and set behind the grid layer. I applied Displacement Map to the Ball Action layer, set the Wave Warp pre-comp as my source and…nothing happens. I can see the waves but only because Ball Action leaves transparent areas, so I’m actually seeing ‘through’ the layer I want to ripple.
I assume that you can’t apply the displacement map to a 3D effect like Ball Action? I thought pre-comping the BA layer would do the trick, but no luck there. I could alsways do something janky like saving the BA layer in its finished state as a PNG and rippling that, but would rather not. Can anyone help? This is the first time I’ve tried using WaveWorld.

For anyone that finds this post, https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/3d_ball_dispersion/ might help.
