Hi, hope this makes sense, I am doing a project where I need to slide edit footage across the screen from one side to another, for a 3 screen video projection. Can I make a timeline that is the same height as clips, but is three times as long, so I can do the slide edit. Thanks. I know that 2 third of screen will be empty at any time, which is what I want. thnaks.

Yes, you can do that. Just set the dimensions to whatever you need when you create a project.

Thanks, that seems to work, though am wondering, the clips are interlaced, but when I make the custom size it only allows progressive, is this ok, will it convert the interlaced to progressive. thanks again.

FCPX will deinterlace on export, or the better option might be to select the clips in the browser, go to the info panel and tell FCPX to deinterlace them before you start editing.
