Activity Forums Adobe After Effects make 2 layers into a nested comp…

    Hey Rich,

    In AE this is known as ‘pre-composing’ – Select the layers you want to nest, hit ‘Layer’ in the top menu and select “Pre-compose’ (all the way down, right at the bottom). Or use the shortcut Cmd-Shift-C for mac / Cntrl-Shift-C on PC.

    This will move the selected layers to an intermediary comp and leave you with a new layer in it’s place in your current timeline.

    In After Effects, this is called precomposing. Select the two layers and press Cmd-Shift-C on a Mac, or Ctrl-Shift-C on a PC.
