  • major question about exporting

I’m trying to figure out what way is best to export using quicktime conversion, a project that was filmed and captured in HDV format. This is going to be for broadcast digital television and I just want it to look its ultimate by doing as much possible on my end. However, everything has to be down converted to 4:3 aspect ratio for the network. And there are just so many options that I’m not 100% certain on what to do. I’m needing to down convert it so that I can capture it back onto an HDV tape and then ship it to the network for closed captioning. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated with this. And by the way I’m new here, hopefully one day I’ll be able to help someone out on here. Thanks!

Is your network broadcasting SD or HD (since they want 4:3 I guess it must be SD – then you’d be best off mastering to Digibeta)

The network is in SD, but they said to send them an HDV tape and then they will do the Beta transfer and closed captioning. I’m just concerned tho that there will me a major quality loss when they transfer. & I want to make sure it broadcast at best possible, and that I am doing everything on my end to make it the best possible. It was all captured in HDV and edited in HDV format and I’m just wondering if I need to export it in quicktime conversion before I run it back thru the vtr onto an HDV tape. I’ve ran into this issue before and the product looked like a bad vhs tape when it aired. Thanks for the help!
