I don’t get you. Slowing down the footage should not effect image quality in any way. It should look exactly the same.
[Richard Lutz] “and without changing settings or FPS in my camera.”
Well, if you want SMOOTH slow motion, you either need to shoot more frames…like say 60fps that you can then slow down to 30fps or 24fps…or you invest in software designed to make smooth slow motion out of the 30i or 24p footage you have. Like Twixtor.
Normally you just load your footage into the Viewer, hit CMD-J, choose the speed you want, cut it into the sequence. Turning FRAME BLENDING OFF might be wise too. If it isn’t as smooth as you wanted, then you need to shoot more FPS, or get Twixtor. But no matter what, the quality should remain EXACTLY the same as if you didn’t slow it down. There is no reason it would be any different.
[Richard Lutz] “Do I need to telecine my clips? “
No. That will take 30fps shot at 24p, and remove redundant frames to make it play at 23.98fps…same speed as original.
