Maintaining color quality in DV exports
I have exported a 3.5 minute short film(animated) in two ways.
One is to export as a simple microsoft avi with no codec. This produces a large file(6.5GB), but the perfect colors.
The other way was as DV avi, which had a smaller file size (1.4GB), but a noticable deteriation in the depth of the color, especially gradients.
I ultimately wanted to use the XviD codec to reduce the file size for various applications etc. The XviD compression barely changes the colors if converted from the DV.
What should I do to preserve the color quality of the film when reducing it’s size? What codecs? What process?
6GB is way too much for 3 minutes.
I also have problems exporting from PPro 2 into XviD and have used VDub to do this instead.
Thanks
