A riend of mine is learning Vegas.

He has 8.0c installed and asked me if it’s possible to always have the last clip centered on the timeline with no clips to the right.

He finds that as he is adding clips on the timeline and working his way to the right, he runs out of space and has to keep grabbing the timeline and shifting it to the left to make more room to place new clips.

Is there an option so that as clips are put on the timeline, the timeline automatically shifts a little to the left to accomodate the new clip?

There is no option for this, it’s just the way Vegas behaves when you drop a clip that is longer than the timeline. It does leave a bit at the end so that you can drop another clip and it will scroll that clip into view once you drop it.

    Hi Frankie,

As John mentioned, there’s no option for that, but what I may suggest when you’re or your friend is adding a bunch of clips, is to zoom out of the timeline, if you expand the bottom scroll bar it will zoom out of the timeline. Yes the clips are harder to work with that small, but at least if you are at the stage of just adding a bunch of clips, it makes it more manageable.

Also, if you have a scroll mouse, you can use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out of the timeline.

    Have an ice day 😉
