MainConcept VS. Adobe Media Encoder for “H.264” output
I’ve downloaded the trial and tried MainConcept’s Encoder today, it’s awesome quality!!, but there is a concern from some people here at work that if we went with Adobe Media Encoder, that it might output a better quality file and faster? Can anyone verify the quality differences? Also, I don’t have AME at the moment for CS4, my final output will be for an H.264 codec/”.F4V file” for Flash. Which give you better quality, more control, better motion, colors, and encodes faster? Anyone else besides Jan Ozer, who I know would know, but I’m anxious to hear from more than one person or read more than from just one article.

Unless things have changed recently Adobe licences the H.264 codec SDK in AME from Mainconcept.

So, would the encode results be exactly the same, it is like the same encoder engine, then? If all the settings were exactly the same and I was encoding an 8-bit, 10 second test clip using MainConcept on a PC vs. encoding with AME on a Mac?
