There is no need to, Vegas already by default uses its own
Sony DV Codec, which is superior.

    Thanks Steve,

I have being delivering recorded DV tapes to broadcast for a couple of years.

I have read a lot in this forum about about color correction and Glenn Chann’s articles. But I am still not OK with the results I get when I render using Vegas DV codec.

I recently discovered ‘Cedocida_0.2.2’ DV codec. According with my experience, It worked with Sony Vegas better than Sony DV codec.

That is why I am try to test the trial version of main concept DV codec. I installed it in my PC, but I don’t know the container to use it in Vegas rendering. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the response I just got from MainConcept:

“Thank you for your request, our DV Codec is very old. We don’t support Windows
7 or newer OS. Last OS Version we support with our DV Codec is Windows XP”

Therefore, I will continue using ‘Cedocida_0.2.2’ DV codec.

The container to use is Video for Windows (*.avi) and the codec can be selected on the Video tab under Video format.

If you want to use it for playback in Vegas, go into Options | Preferences | General and uncheck [_] Ignore third party DV codecs.

They should have continued supporting this codec.
