  Magnifying glass effect Adobe Illustrator

  Hello Creative Cow community,

  I recently made some t-shirt designs and one of them is patterned (stripes to be exact). The stripes are very small (stroke of 1) but I wanted to add a circle/square to show a zoomed-in/bigger version of it.

  I did some research and started to follow this tutorial (https://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-magnified-text-illustration–vector-792) but got lost on step 4 (reading through the comments tells me I’m not the only one).

  If anyone could either: Provide an alternate tutorial on how to make a “magnifying glass effect” in Illustrator OR explain step 4 of the tutorial I provided, that would be great.
