Magix 14 Compatible with 4K Camcorder?
Posted by John Lee on April 20, 2018 at 6:30 pmI have Magix 14 and just bought a Sony AX33 4K camcorder. Looking at the project properties, the closest thing I see is “HD 720-60P (1280×720) 59.94 fps”.
Is that the best (and only) setting I can use? The camcorder manual says I can do “XAVC S 4K (3840×2160) at 60mpbs” and “XAVC S HD (1920×1080) at 50mpbs”. What is the best Magix setting to accommodate my new camcorder?
Thank you for any replies.

April 21, 2018 at 11:38 amThis doesn’t answer your question exactly but once you do edit in 4k and render in 4k, you really can’t do much with that I know of except upload it to YouTube or put the file on a memory stick and use it that way on a 4K television. You can’t make a BluRay in 4K. So although I love shooting in 4K, I haven’t found it of much use except the ability to zoom in and still keep HD resolution.

April 22, 2018 at 1:30 amI have the Sony AX/100, similar cams. If you have the settings correct, there should be another folder that contains the 4k video. If you have it on Dual mode, it will create both. I made notes of where the files are located, On the SD card:
4k video – MP4
S:\PRIVATE\M4ROOT\CLIPHiDef – MTS
S:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAMLow quality 720 video – MP4
S:\MP_ROOT\100ANV01 -

April 22, 2018 at 12:15 pmWhen I started to work with 4K I found I needed a much faster computer to handle the preview. That was an expensive issue to deal with.

April 22, 2018 at 4:33 pmThanks for all the replies. I see their is a dual recording mode, and the HD modes are as follows:
XAVC S 4K, XAVC S HD and AVCHD
Is the resolution for XAVC S 4K worth what I assume is the bigger file size? Should I definitely record in dual mode? Excited to use this camcorder, but is XAVC S HD more than enough?
