So I’ve purchased and downloaded the Maxon Red Giant suite which contains magic bullet, a plugin which can change the aesthetic of projects. I was advised to add the plugin to an adjustment layer and then edit my look, but when I do that, nothing happens, the clips look exactly the same. So I tried again, but I instead added the plugin directly to the clip and again nothing. I even changed the preview resolution to full instead of quarter like I usually do. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how can I fix it, ideally without having to go buy a whole other laptop?

I was wondering what are your computer specs that made Magic Bullet not work like that. You purchased it from an official website for it right? If so, it should be able to work as long as it has the compability on your PC to run properly. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app again to see if any changes to the Magic Bullet plugin that can work. Sometimes if you update the app at the wrong time, there could be some issues with the background files that does not work properly and usually uninstalling and reinstalling can help too. Hope it helps! And hope to hear back from you soon!

When you initially apply Magic Bullet Looks to your clip, you shouldn’t see anything change. You first need to go into the effect controls and hit the edit button to adjust your effect.

Yes, I did. It shows up when I edit the looks just not when I apply it to the clips

I’ll put the link to my laptop here, and yes I did buy it from the official website. Everything else from magic bullet works, it’s just the looks that won’t show up.

It may be because you don’t have a graphics card. According to the requirements page, Magic Bullet Looks needs:

At least 2 GB GPU memory for HD resolution output and 4 GB GPU memory for 4K projects. GPU memory requirements are multiplied by the number of monitors attached

Since you only have the integrated graphics on your CPU, Looks might just not be able to be used.

I was thinking something along the same lines, but I just wanted to double check as I don’t really want to get a whole new laptop.
