Magic Bullet Editors issues!
Posted by Alieninnovation on May 20, 2006 at 9:32 amHi,
I purchased Magic Bullet Editors v2.0 last week, so today I thought to my self I will give it a try.
Beside from the Fact that this Plugin is as slow as if I was on a Pentium 2 with no Real Time FX.None of the Look Presets from the Look-Suite look nothing like the Magic Bullet Look Guide (https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/lookguide.html).
Ether the Footage is bleached out, Under Saturated or over Saturated.
Anybody else have this issue?
Thanks

May 20, 2006 at 3:16 pmMagic Bullet isn’t realtime for a majority of the filters. I know they claim realtime, but that must be on a Quad G5 with the best graphics card money can buy. Magic Bullet is notoriously slow. Render times have improved DRASTICALLY with MBE 2…cut in half…but they are still slow.
What machine are you running? What graphics card? These are the key factors for render speed and realtime. Although I have yet to see ANYTHING realtime from MB.
And what are your sequence render settings? YOu might have them set to low quality. Click on the RT button in the upper left corner of the timeline and tell us what is checked.

May 20, 2006 at 3:26 pmTry the demo of Nattress Film Effects. I’ve used both and I always end up with Nattress.

May 21, 2006 at 10:31 amI’ve gotten GREAT results with MBE – you have to finess all of the settings in order get the results you’re after.
Since you’re not using the identical footage they’re using in the demo’s it’s obvious the results will look different. So, play around with the filter and you’ll be amazed at the looks you can create.
Having said that, yes, MBE is a slow renderer.

May 21, 2006 at 1:54 pmThats strange. I use MBE for lots of broadcast work, and it kicks ass. I have a geforce 688 Ultra DLL and everything works beautiful. Its VERY fast with this graphics card. ehh.. so you use the presets right ? Should be pretty close to the examples on the Red Giants web site.
Try to ask your question in the magic bullet forum here no Creative cow.

May 21, 2006 at 6:06 pmSince I’ve upgraded to 2.0, MBE will crash FCP 5.0x if there’s another filter on the same clip. Sometimes, it’ll crash it if it’s the only filter on the clip. I’m working on a G5 dual2.5 with an x800XT and 4.5 gigs of RAM. And I 2nd what’s been said elsewhere that it’s very slow. Leave it till the very end of your project and then use em…..

May 23, 2006 at 5:35 amHi,
darn, that was the reason why I got Magic Bullet for Editors. So I can pop on the Filter and done.
I’m on Dual 2.0GHz 4.5GB RAM and a ATi X800XT.
Thanks
