Magic Bullet: can’t quite get “The Look”
Like many others who purchased Magic Bullet I’m trying to get our pristine 60i footage to look less like pristine 60i footage. Here’s my workflow:
Digitize into Avid at 2:1. Export “Same as Source” to a .mov.
Import into AE7 (separate fields turned off). I create a 29.97 comp and apply MB2.1 and render with the settings suggested in the MB manual to create a 30p NTSC master, using the Uncompressed Meridian codec. When I import the quicktime created by AE7 back into Avid, the clip (as viewed on a NTSC monitor) definitely doesn’t look like the original DigiBeta footage but it certainly wouldn’t fool anyone into beleiving that its not just interlaced video running through plug-ins (specifically thin lines appeared aliased and there were digital artifacts and jittery motion). I also tried to create a 24p master but the results were even less convincing.
I can give more details, but overall am I missing something obvious or are my expectations of what MB can do too high?
Sorry, there were no replies found.
