  • MacTheRipper – Read Error – Can’t open VMG info

I’m trying to rip a non-commercial DVD authored in Poland with English subtitles. The reason for ripping is that the DVD doesn’t start up automatically in the US and we need to make some new viewers that do start up automatically in the US. My I guess it’s a region problem. So all I want to do is rip it to m2v and aif and subtitles and then re-author in DVDSP.

I tried it with Mpeg Streamclip and was able to rip the video and audio but not the subtitles.

So I downloaded Handbrake (64 bit) and VLC (64 bit) because I read that Handbrake can burn the subtitles into the video, but I get “No Valid Source Found”.

So I downloaded MacThRipper but I get a Read Error! Can’t open VMG info and IE Error! Can’t Read DVD TItle Set Info.

    I’m using a MacBook Pro running 10.6.2

    Can anyone help?

    hi,
you need to use subrip (pc-freeware) to rip the subtitle.

subtitles aren´t present in the VMG, they are located in the VTS as well.

mpeg stream or any other programm that you mentioned wont be able to rip subtitles.

    cheers

Thanks for the reply. So no way to rip on a mac? I don’t have a PC. I read that handbrake does rip the subtitles and burn them into the video, I just can’t get handbrake to read the DVD.
