Hi All – previous post dropped so reposting:

I need a macro lens for thisDiamond shoot – all which need to be enlarged well past the limits of teh XL1. Checked into the EF adapter and an EF 50mm f/2.5 but, combined, will cost $700 retail. Am I over looking a better and more cost effective solution? Are there vendors in NYC who will rent?

    Best,
    Josh

the 14X lens has a macro feaure – otherwise I’ve got good results with the 16x lens using a set of diopters – around $70. If you have the 1.6 extender that would help also.

    Peter –

    I appreciate your advice.

Where can I get the diopter and the extender? Will I need an attachment for either to fit the 16x?

What was your experience with the macro on the 14X?

Thank you again for the feedback.

    Best,
    Josh

B&H will have it all – diopters come in sets of 3 or 4. The 14x or diopters alone may work fine but the 1.6 extender allows you to move the camera back so that the shadow of the camera won’t (hopefully) interfere with the subject
