With the amount of time and money you’re spending on getting this old Mac pro to work… Maybe you should look at building a windows box? I think I specc’d a minimum working windows box at ~800$ a while ago, minus the black magic card

I ended up picking up a 5770 for £70 (PC version but works with Lion). I may of pent a few hours but I have also learnt a lot about Macs in the process. For example it looks like I can upgrade to 2*4 core 2.66Ghz. I think if I decide to build a new box it will be a Hakintosh;).
