    Equipment Question:
OK, so I need to make a decision about purchasing the new MacPro desktop. (I want the best performance for After Effects use.) Would it be better to get the Two 2.6 GHz Dual MacPro with the upgraded ATI Radeon X1900 XT graphics card OR…get the the Two 3 GHz model with the standard NVIDIA 7300 Graphics card? (Wish I could afford both, but I can’t.) Does getting 2x NVIDIA cards make a real difference?
I know that upping the RAM is the real boost for After Effects, but after that – is it the Graphics card or faster processor that helps AE along?
    Thanx so much!

well the good news is you have time to save

after effects still does not run on intel computers ecept through roseta which is slower than any computer you could have now

    id say save for both

but if, in theory, it worked now, it depends if you are getting nucleo or not

Well, right now I’m running AE on a dual 500 MHz G4, so ANYTHING is going to run faster than what I have now. But in theory, what does AE respond to more: faster CPU or this ATI Radeon X1900 XT graphics card? Are there specific Mac-friendly Graphics cards that AE works well with?
    Thanx.

    In order of priority:

    1 – CPU Speed
    2 – RAM
    3 – Display card

You’ll definitely get better value from better CPU speed. Plus, you can update the display card at a later date, you can’t upgrade the CPU.
