Machine Control
Posted by Jim Sanders on May 3, 2007 at 8:43 pmIt is probably something very simple but, I hav a brand new Mac Pro and a Sony DSR-1500A deck. I am connected via fire wire and I get the video but, have no machine control.
I checked all my device control setting and have selected firewire and I still can nit control the deck?Any quick remedies?

May 3, 2007 at 10:09 pmThere’s usually a setting on most decks, too – if not on the front, then in the menus.

May 4, 2007 at 12:53 pmEnzo, I looked through the menu of the deck and did not see any settings that needed activating? On the front of the deck there is only the local and remote switch.
I am still having no luck with the machine control. On my other PC 844x machine I need drivers for each specific deck could, I possibly need to install a driver for this deck (I would not think so because it is simply FW).
Thank you

May 6, 2007 at 9:58 pmYou might be looking for a “Firewire” setting, and on this deck it’s called “iLink”. I Googled it and found this:

May 7, 2007 at 11:51 amEnzo, thank you so, much!!! That was exactly it. I had done some google searching with the search criteria of “Sony DSR-1500 with Final Cut Pro 5” and did not come up with any relevant info.
Again thank you, the deck is working fine now.
I am one happy editor now.
Best regards Jim
