    Hi

I am looking at buying a second hand Macbook Pro to install and use Final Cut Studio 2. I will be using mainly FCP and Motion.
I have already checked out the tecnhical spec required on the apple website (https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/) but would really appreciate someone with working knowledge of FCP and Macs confirming that I haven’t missed out or misunderstood anything.

The Macbook Pro I am interested in is described as follows:
Core 2 Duo macbook Pro,2.33Ghz core 2 Duo CPU, a new 320gig hard drive (SATA), high resolution 15.4″ TFT, 256mb graphics card, DVD-RW drive (Super drive) capable of burning dual layer CD+DVD

I asked for further details on the graphics card and was told it was an X1600.

Having checked out the systems requirements it appears to me it will do the job, however, as I am sure you can appreciate I don’t want to pay out and find I have got the wrong spec!!

Many thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply.

I’m using the exact same Macbook Pro, albeit in the 17″ version, with FCP 5.1.4 and it works well, even when another monitor (19″) is hooked up for dual screen editing. You neglected to mention how much RAM the used Macbook Pro has, but I suspect it’ll be the same as mine, which is 2 Gytes. I can’t see FCP 6 being much more taxing than 5.1.4. With only 2 Gbytes of RAM though, it’s in your best interest to run only one of the FCS apps. at a time. If, for example, you have FCP running and decide to start Motion as well you’ll see a significant drop in performance depending on how large your projects are.

Hope this helps you in your decision making.

Thanks for your response, Don. It is really helpful. It has 4GB of RAM so more than enough to do the job.
    All the best.
