Macbook Pro – Playback

Hi,

I own a Macbook Pro unibody, and I have it set up in clam shell mode to a 24″ Dell monitor. This works just fine.

I was just wondering if there are any devices that will allow me to keep this set up the way it is but also playback onto a 32″ TV that I own. I know the avid mojo does this but its far to expensive for me.

Are there any similar devices that can achieve this? I edit in Avid Media Composser

Avid Media Composer 5.5 works with the Matrox MXO2 Mini ($495, output only) and AJA IO Express ($995, input and output)…but both require an Express34 slot. Does your machine have that?

Try the AjA ioEXPRESS or ioXT. We’ve been testing the io EXRPRESS where I work as an alternative to the Mojo and it works great with both MC and FCP. Just be aware that the input/output options are limited in comparison to the Mojo.

There is also, now, a TBolt version of the mini that, I believe, plays back MC. It was just announced, so it may not be shipping yet.
