Hello. Would anyone know if a new 15 inch macbook pro would work witha dell 2405 monitor as an external monitor? The Macbook has an ati mobility radeon x1600 graphics card.

I can’t get an answer from dell.

    Thanks

Sure it will. Did you see the Apple specs?

    From Apple:
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

    DVI output port
VGA output using included DVI to VGA adapter

No question. It even drives the Dell 30″ no problem.

Thanks. Yes, I checked those specs but the Dell site made it seem that perhaps it wouldn’t work. But thanks. Guess I’ll spend some money now.

Well, that’s because Dell is trying to sell computers. Apple is a competitor so of course they won’t come right out and say it. As long as your display card supports the resolution, refresh rate, and connection of the monitor, you’re golden.
