Hey ambrose
The Mac Studio base model with the M1 Max chip and 32 GB of unified memory should be capable of running Avid Media Composer smoothly for normal scripted offline editing. The M1 Max chip has impressive processing power and the 24-core GPU should provide excellent graphics performance. However, it’s worth noting that Avid Media Composer has not yet been optimized for the M1 chip, so performance may not be as fast as on an Intel-based Mac or a Windows PC.
In terms of future compatibility with Avid software, it’s difficult to say for sure how well the Mac Studio base model will age. However, Apple has been making a push towards using its own custom silicon, like the M1 and M1 Max chips, and Avid has stated that it is working on optimizing its software for these chips. As such, it’s possible that the Mac Studio base model could work well with future versions of Avid Media Composer, but it’s always wise to check for compatibility before upgrading your software or hardware.
