There is an ancient thread on here from before Resolve was released wondering about slot use.

Does anyone else on here use:

    GTX285
    RedRocket
    GT120
    ATTO R380

That’s all my slots gone and I need a Decklink Extreme card as well to run the grading monitor. I’ve got a 2010 mac pro.

Kind of annoying if I have to keep transferring small lumps of data to an internal raid to work rather than to work from external on whole project.

    Cheers
    Tim

Yeah it’s frustrating indeed…life would be so much better if there are more slots available.

Well, the first thing that needs to go is the GT120.
Try to just take it out and compare the performance to your old setup.
    I expect 25% decrease.
The next thing is you need to find a solution for the HDMi ports if you intend to use them.
I am using the space in my eSata card for it.
I think if Blackmagic wants users to be happy with the Mac they should :
    1. come up with a new breakout cable solution that carries HDMI IO too
    2. push Apple/nVidia to support Quadro 6000 cards

    A slice of color…

    DaVinci 7.0.3
    Dual Xeon 2,4
    OSX 10.6.5RAM 6 GB
    RAID 8TB intern
    Extern 6TB
    GTX 285 / GT 120
    WAVE

Cubix and Magma make them. Decent solution for people wanting extra slots.
