  • Mac Raid Card Question

Go ahead and get it out of your system. I know y’all hate the thing but it’s a fact of life for me.

    Here’s my config:
    Bay 1: system drive 10.6.8
    Bay 2-4 Raid 0

The card sees 2 Raid sets: RS1, a JBOD of 1x1tb drive (system) and RS2, the 3 bay Raid 0.

My question is, when I replace the system drive is there any reason RS 2 might be affected in any way?

Thanks in advance for any advice (beisdes ditch the card)

no – you can replace the system drive, and you will not damage your 3 bay RAID 0 array (your 3 internal drives).

I like your list of equipment you worked on in the past – I worked on Convergence and Datatron Editing systems – and you know what – they became obsolete – JUST LIKE YOUR APPLE RAID CARD.

the VPE-141 was wonderful, and expensive, and then it became obsolete too – and the companies that stayed in business had to buy something new (like an AVID or an EMC). And this is the boat you are in now – you have an old RAID card – you need to move foward – just like you outline so wonderfully in your signature line.

Thanks for the info Bob. I knew it would be you and pretty sure how you would editorialize. Best regards, peter (bordering on obsolescence myself).

ps: prbly gonna add PP CS6 to the list as soon as AJA catches up.
