Mac Pro or PC Config?
I am prepared to purchase a Mac Pro maxed out with these specs for 4K editing,VFX compositing, 3D animation and music production:

2.7GHz 12-core with 30MB of L3 cache
64GB (4x16GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC
512GB PCIe-based flash storage
Dual AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM eachIs there any reason or other computer to consider to give me the power of this machine?

I just need to point out that you are missing a major component to this equation…storage. You’ll need a large, multi-drive RAID fast enough to play back 4K, and large enough to store 4K. 4-5 drive RAID at least…Thunderbolt 2 connectivity.

The other issue is a presumably temporary one…
Avid has noted a performance issue with the 12 core Westmere and 12 core New Mac Pros.
Hoping they have it fixed in 8.4.
