    Hi,

I’ve just emailed BM support about this one, but thought i’d post here as well to see if anyone has had the same problem as me.

My System: Mac Pro 2.66, 5gb ram, OS: 10.4.8 FCP: 5.0.1

I installed the HD Extreme card, downloaded the latest BM drivers. I’m getting a display on my external monitor, so the card appears to be working fine.

When i click on Final Cut Pro, it opens in the menu bar at the top, but then hangs. The usual screen startup screen doesn’t appear at all. I then have to Force Quit to get the app to close down.

If i uninstall the BM drivers, FCP works fine – reinstall them and the same problem happens.

I tried FCP Rescue 5 – it said that there were no preferences to trash.

My thoughts are that the latest BM drivers don’t support the powerpc version of FCP and i’m gonna have to wait for my universal disks to arrive from apple….

Anyone with the same experience or any advice, i’d be grateful to hear from you.

    Many Thanks,

    Rob Hughes

    Hi Rob,

You appear to be using the PowerPC version of Final Cut Pro 5.0.1. The DeckLink 5.7.2 drivers are Universal Binary drivers designed to work with the Universal Binary version of Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 and no testing has been conducted with PowerPC versions of Final Cut Pro on the Mac Pro. You will need to use Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 to work on the Mac Pro.

After Effects 7.0 is still a PowerPC application so we’ve added some special code to our drivers to make it possible to use the RAM Preview feature with After Effects 7.0 on the Mac Pro.

I hope your Universal Binary installation discs arrive quickly 🙂

Cheers Luke, I guessed that might be the issue.

Well – you mentioned that no testing had been done with the powerpc version of FCP – i’ve done it for ya! It don’t work!

Has anyone reading this done the UK universal crossgrade offer from Apple? – Upgrade from final cut studio?
When i got the invoice from the apple store it said an estimated delivery time of 4-6 weeks!!! Is this actually the case, or have disks come through quicker than that?

    Thanks,
