Mac Guy just landed in a PC post environment.

    Here’s what I’m working with:

    Intel Core i9-10900K CPU 3.7Ghz

    64 Gigs Ram

    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Gigabit ethernet to a QNAP server

Running the most current version of all CC software.

This rig is right out of the box with defaults firmly in place. Any suggestions for how I might optimize any network or graphics card settings to optimize performance? We shoot a lot of 4K and playback is questionable unless I proxy to a local SSD. Am I stuck with this or are there settings that I, as a mac guy, are unaware of?

Mac/PC, I don’t think that really matters. If you are editing off the QNAP via Gigabit ethernet, you will get questionable playback of your 4K. See if you can get a 10 Gig connection on the PC and on the QNAP server.

Adobe suggests to have your cache go to a dedicated cache SSD drive.

Just like on your Mac, your PC should be using the graphics card for some effects and renders.

You may want to allocate a little more RAM to PPro and AE, than the default.

Check what your cpu is optimized for. You may be able to overclock it a little depending on what your motherboard is.

10G NIC card arrives friday. We have a 10G switch. Not sure why they bought this pedestrian unit for network editing but hopefully this will take care of it.
