I can’t seem to get my system to work (well work right anyway).. It use to work, but now after many post in the FCP section, and many different tries at troubleshooting, I am still getting problems exporting, playing and rendering in Final Cut Pro. (FCP freezes or drops frames or shifts video horizontally both slightly and quickly)

Could someone, who uses a G4 & KONA SD card, please let me know what versions of FCP , OS, QT and whatever else you are using that works. Please.

My system is (Mac G4 dual 1.42, 2G ram), OSX 10.4.8, QT 7.1.3, Decklink 5.6, FCP 5.0.4, Medea RTR, Atto Express PCI UL3d

[Sean Harris] “Medea RTR, Atto Express PCI UL3d”

Please check that the firmware / drivers for these devices are up to date. Some RAID arrays require updated firmware in order to work with OS X 10.4.8.

You might also want to try rendering to your local drive to eliminate any issues with your existing RAID.

Are you working with 8-bit or 10-bit video? What is the results of Disk Speed Test on your Medea RTR?

    regards

My following config has been rock-solid (…knock on wood):

    -dual 1Ghz G4, 1.25G RAM
    -MacOS 10.4.6
    -Quicktime 7.0.4
    -FCP 5.0.4
    -Decklink 5.6

I run it with an internal 4-drive RAID expansion and external FW800 card + GRAID. Enjoy.
