Mac freezing
Posted by Ofer Geva on February 2, 2013 at 3:49 pmI just reinstalled CS5 after reformatting my computer.
I tried to edit something but every time I try to export via Media encoder the computer fails to export freezes – forcing me to turn it off manually.
Does anyone have any idea what to do?
Thank you

February 2, 2013 at 5:26 pmHow about some details?
What format/codec are you trying to export to?
What kind of media on the timeline?
How long is the timeline?

February 2, 2013 at 5:30 pmThank you for your response:
1. It’s a 15 seconds clip made from just an .mts file (from my af100- 1080 24p) with some colour grading.
2. I tried to export to h.264 (hdtv 1080 24p), mpeg-2 (hdtv 1080 24p), quicktime (standart-def ntsc widescreen24p) -

February 2, 2013 at 5:42 pmHave you been able to export media from this camera out of CS5 in the past?

February 2, 2013 at 7:16 pmI recently had the same problem but using CS6. I used Preference Manager to trash the preferences. It’s available for free from Digital Rebellion. It seemed to do the trick.

February 2, 2013 at 7:24 pmTrashing Preferences and Repairing Permissions are both good maintenance processes that can fix a lot of weirdnesses on Macs.

February 4, 2013 at 8:15 amThe problem returned. I uninstalled the CS5 suite. Haven’t reinstalled it yet. I have to say I’m pretty scared to do it. I don’t want to keep forcing shutdown on my mac.
