  mac error 36 prob -please help!!!

  Hi there!

  I work on a MAC OS X version 10.3.8 on a G5 and on Avid Xpress Pro 4.6.5.

  I have just compressed my sequence of 1 hr which size is 11GB into an MPg4 file so that I could back my sequence up on a ‘store and go’ USB key. So far so good.
  But my sequence in the Avid is now ‘corrupt’: every 5 seconds or so the picture either jumps or there is a digital code break (that are patches of multicoloured squares appearing in the picture).
  I checked on the source footage whether the jumps and digital breaks appeared and yes they are there too. Plus, this Mac error 36 (I/O) keeps appearing. I had this error bugging me recently but it went away and now it’s back.
  I thought it might be a bent cable or something that had caused it…

  Is this a viewing problem in the Avid or is the source footage really damaged in the Avid?
  Is it an Avid problem or a Mac problem ?
