I’m thinking about upgrading to a MacPro 8-core system, but I’ve heard that in order to take advantage of all 8 cores, you need a gig of RAM per core (in other words, 8GB of RAM). Will a 4-core 4GB RAM system system run the same as an 8-core with 4GB of RAM? Am I missing something? If I’m working on a limited budget and don’t want to buy 8GB of RAM, would it be better for me to get a 4-core 4GB system?

FYI, I mostly run FCP and AfterEffects.

    Thanks.
