September 7, 2006 at 2:51 amThese are DVD files, or more specifically, usually the video part of Mpeg2 files.
You could try renaming it as mpeg, but your best bet is to find yourself an M2V to Quicktime, and export uncompressed, I would Google it up, I’m pretty sure there are a few freebies out there. Even if the renaming part works, it’ s not guaranteed that it will be trouble free. Now I’m on a Windows machine, maybe somebody else will have a better idea.

September 7, 2006 at 7:36 amMy favourite converter in this situation is MPEG Streamclip.
It will identify the type of M2v, and also demux the audio if present in the MPEG stream.
Better still, its free:

September 7, 2006 at 9:10 amOK – I’m assuming you still can’t see any frames of the files in either
Qt Pro Player or MPEG Streamclip 1.7.
The next thing to try is the VLC media Player:

And the next to try is:

MegaPEG Pro HD demoYou need to find out what format of M2v your client has given you.
It may be an elementary broadcast stream. -

September 7, 2006 at 9:26 amHi footagehead,
Sorry, I think I’ve confused the issue. The component that i bought fixed everything. I’ve got really nice footage to work with after exporting from qt pro.
I suppose it doesn’t really matter, but I’ve been recommended streamclip by a lot of people because it’s really functional and “FREE”! I was more wondering why I needed to spend $39 bucks to make it work. Hey I’m not complaining. It was $39 well spent cos I’ve got a good out come.
I really appreciate your help and the effort you went to to find those links.
cheers,
s!
