I did some searching and found a few topics on this error, however, after attempting the fixes that have been suggested I am still unable to open .m2ts files.

Is there an official fix for this? I just get an unsupported format error.

The Picture Motion Browser software that came with my Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder generated those files. I tried opening them on my friends PC – he’s using Vegas 7.0e and it worked fine.

ok. sorry, but what are you trying to open them in?

if they open in 7, then they should quite happily open in 8.

I’m trying to open them with Vegas 8, but it states .m2ts is an unsupported format, however, they open fine with Vegas 7.

    strange indeed.

    try renaming them to .m2t.

have no idea if this will work, but renaming some ‘iffy’ formats does.

how are you bring them in? try import hard disk recorder
