Is there any advantage of converting my m2ts files to avi with Cineform HD Link(or similar program). Will it make it easier to edit on a computer that isn’t as fast as the ones most of you are using?

I converted a few last night and they seemed to convert to a MUCH bigger file.

So, should I leave them in the m2ts that the come from my camera when I drop in Vegas.

Also, on a side note, will Vegas 9.0 be better than my 8.0 when rendering high def or is just simply m processing on my computer?

M2ts is I believe AVCHD which is much more difficult to work with and very processor stressing. Using a proxy or intermediate as I believe you are alluding to does help in certain curcumstances. By the way they are not the same thing.

Yeah, if it’s a m2ts file, it will be AVCHD, which I hear can be a bit of a pain to work with sometimes. If it is a m2t file, then you should be fine. If your case, concerting to a Cineform AVI file may be helpful, as it will probably be less buggy when used with Vegas.
