.m2ts files into FCP
dual 2.7 g5 fcp 6.03 mac osx 10.4.11
I have video files with this extension (.m2ts). video was shot on a sony avchd camera and imported into a pc computer using nero software. I am trying to convert these files for editing in FCP on my mac. I am not having any luck even playing these files, let alone converting them. I have tried the following methods:
changing the extension to just .m2t
VLC
compressor
mpeg streamclip
clipwrap
WMV
QTany ideas? anyone familiar with what nero does to these poor video files?
any help would be much appreciated.

by all accounts, Toast 9 will convert your AVCHD files to any codec on your system (not just AIC as per Voltaic) and it will do it much much faster than Voltaic’s painfully sow 12x realtime speeds

Hi Andy,
Have you heard about something that just re-envelope (with no re-encoding) the .m2ts so can be cut in FC?
I read a post with a link for the plugin few weeks ago, but I can find it.

This would only work if the video essence is compatible to a QuickTime video codec.
