I have M2TS files of footage. The footage was shot on a Panasonic HDC HS 300. The properties of the footage are as follows: 1920×1080, 29.97.
When I play the footage in HD Writer AE 1.0 (the software that comes with the camera) the footage looks clean. As soon as I import in Premiere, the footage playback is choppy.
I assumed I chose the wrong settings. I have tried AVCHD 1080p and 1080i and a lot of other settings…they all playback choppy, so maybe that is not the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

You probably just need to render at least some part of the timeline to see it playback smoothly. Adjust the work area bar and with the timeline selected hit enter.

You have to remember the panasonic software is designed specifically for that format footage, or vise-versa.
