  • M2T file import into Premiere Elements 9?

Posted by Tyge Floyd on December 17, 2010 at 5:00 pm

I shoot a Canon XL-H1a in 1080i/60 HDV and also to a Sony MRC1K recorder in M2T file format. I have a client who needs the M2T files I dumped to an external hard drive. He uses Adobe Premiere Elements 9 as an editing platform. We have run into some problems with him importing the footage.

First, I converted my M2T files to MOV using ClipWrap, he could not import the file.

Then, I sent him an untouched M2T file, he still could not import.

Any ideas as to how he can get these files to work with PE9?

    Thanks in advance!

    That is strange.
I sometimes use an m2t file that is generated by Export to Tape in Premiere Pro 1.5.1 HDV by Importing into Premiere Elements, and it behaves as a HDV/mpeg-2 transfer that can easily be SHARED in Premiere Elements automatically, to blu-ray as H.264 or mpeg-2 in 1920 x 1080i on a PAL PC. it can be Exported to a Canon HV 20.
I can only recommend not to convert m2t as H.264 MOV Via ClipWrap
