She should have helped you, not just referred you to the website. I hope you will still consider Redrock since it is equal to (and in many ways better than) the Ultimate, and less than half the price (going back to REdrock’s mission of affordable gear for personal ownership)
We put together a good podcast on selecting 35mm lenses that you can find at https://www.redrockmicro.com/podcasts.html (third one down). With the release of our new LiveLens active lens mount for canon ef lenses, that part of the podcast is no longer relevant.
Here are some tips on selecting 35mm lenses:
– you can use AF lenses in manual mode. If you haven’t already purchased lenses, it’s better to go with manual focus lenses since the feel of the focus ring is much better, and you won’t spend the additional $$ for auto focus which you don’t need when using an adapter.
– generally you want faster lenses – f2.8 or faster is best.
– older nikon lenses are not color matched, so always make sure to white balance between lens changes. Avoid using presets since they won’t account for slight color changes between lenses
If you have specific questions and I can be of help, please feel free to write to me directly at brian at redrockmicro dot com
Thanks
Brian
