I’m going from AES digital signal -20db out, and the analogue volume level XLR out put is 4-5db weaker in volume. it’s the same on all versions.

yes, I’ve tested out the AES signal against a digial deck and it works fine. it’s only the Flying Cow that seems to cut the volume slightly from a perfect 0db output.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Hello Eric and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Is there any possibility that you are using an unbalanced cable to whatever metering you’re seeing the reduced level on? A malfunctioning balanced cable with only one working signal leg would drop about 6 dB.

For sure it’s a balanced cable. I’ve also tested the cable with other equipment.

    Eric,

My guess is it’s a calibration issue or a level issue.

    I’d suggest contacting the mfgr.
